Power Martial Arts

Welcome to the Power Martial Arts Published Works page. Since 2004, authors and instructors Lori and Matt Brown have written and published a collection of martial arts–related books focused on fitness, child safety, anti-bullying, and stranger awareness.

In 2006, they published The Art of Self-Defense: A Comprehensive Martial Arts Fitness Guide, which highlighted their commitment to educating students and families beyond the dojo.

That same year, Lori and Matt received a Special Recognition Award from the EUSA International Martial Arts Association for their contributions to the martial arts through their published works.

In 2013, they expanded their mission with the What Would JeeMin Do? children’s book series, designed to teach anti-bullying and stranger-danger awareness in a fun, age-appropriate way.

Lori and Matt Brown are proud to share their martial arts knowledge and life-safety instruction through these publications, extending their impact to families everywhere.

What Would JeeMin Do​

What Would JeeMin Do? series empowers children with the skills and confidence to handle bullying, cyberbullying, and stranger-danger situations. Follow JeeMin as she navigates real-life challenges—standing up to bullies at school and on the bus, responding to unkind messages online, and staying safe when home alone or encountering strangers.

 

Through each story, JeeMin learns important lessons in courage, kindness, and problem-solving, helping young readers build confidence, make smart choices, and understand that their words and actions can make a difference.

The Art of Self-Defense

The Art of Self-Defense is a comprehensive martial art fitness guide to help you learn self-defense while building a healthier and more balanced body. This guide also provides training materials for the white belt beginners to the black belt instructors. This guide contains a variety of self-defense getaway techniques to teach you how to safely escape an attacker using leverage to escape from different attacking positions. Learn how to properly stretch your body, coordinate your hands and feet, learn how to safely fall to the ground, and distance yourself from an opponent. Also, learn training drills, one-step sparring, and how to properly and safely work with or without a partner. This guide features fine points to improve techniques and don t do suggestions to keep from doing techniques incorrectly. Two main aspects you will learn from the martial arts are the physical and mental. The physical part will teach you how to defend yourself and to develop good fitness habits such as; flexibility, balance, strength, and endurance. The mental part will teach you how to discipline the mind, boost self-confidence, and develop a positive attitude. The combination of these two aspects will give you more energy to live a stress-free and relaxed life. This training guide is a must for any martial artist and for those who want to make their workouts more powerful while learning how to defend themselves.
